THE HISTORY WE MAKE

Most fellowship is centered on familiarity and a mutual understanding of every member’s individuality. This understanding provides them a forum where the common expectation is patience and tolerance.

But Alpha Phi Omega is not most fellowship.

Our bond should not be established by familiarity but by learning how to appreciate the uniqueness of every brother we meet.  Our relationship should not be founded on mutuality and common expectations but by our individual promise of loyalty to the oath we pledged as an APO.

We are a brotherhood and our circle should be linked by the strength of our diversity.

The cup of kindness we all drink in our toast of loyalty should provide us a venue where there is a spring of understanding, patience and tolerance.

The distinctiveness of our relationship in Alpha Phi Omega is defined by a loyalty in an exclusive APO sense.

Being Loyal is being true and an oath unfulfilled is being false.

Being true is being right and being right is to do justice to everybody.

The existence of Alpha Phi Omega is in the cup of loyalty we toast and drink. This cup is the totality of Truth, Justice and Brotherhood. These are the foundation where leadership, friendship and service should truly stand.

The purpose of Alpha Phi Omega can only be attained by the fulfillment of our oath: The Scout Oath.

We all recognized that the truth is based on our individual hopes, ideals, expectations and behaviors. But while we all submit ourselves in the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service, we should all take a sip from our cup of kindness and take a moment from staring against each other’s differences but rather look outward together towards the same direction.

Whatever happened in the past is no longer real. Our future is just a hope that does not exist yet. Let us all put them aside for now and agree on one certainty staring at us: TODAY

The lessons we learned from yesterday should arm us today to prepare for the future.

This is the gift of this fellowship to all of us. The closest we can get to truth and freedom.

This is the reason why it is called the PRESENT.

Let us all start writing history together: TODAY!
